In 2013, Davao Portal generated 178,989 total pageviews from 102,877 total number of visits, where 82,480 of these visits were unique (from different individuals). For a newly-established website such as the DP, having these figures is quite an achievement for us, considering that we were able to achieve it a short span of time (DP is 1 year and 5 months old – as of this posting). And the team here is optimistic that the website’s traffic will continue to rise in the coming years; and, ultimately, will be able to help even a bigger number of Davao-based/local businesses in connecting/reaching potential customers and business prospects, as well as in providing business information/details to people who need them.
Early this month, we announced over our social media accounts that we wanted to share with you the information about which particular listings (listing means submitted business profile on DP) were the top performers in 2013 based on the total number of page views and visits. Each business submitted to Davao Portal has its own unique page dedicated to it; so, it is pretty easy to sort and analyze the numbers. Specifically, we have listed here the top 12; we pulled our data from one of website performance tools we have been using – Google Analytics.
So, here they are: Davao Portal top performing local businesses in 2013.

You might have thought that submitting your business profile here on Davao Portal is a complex process and could take a big chunk of your time. Fortunately, not really. It could just take less than 10 minutes – from the registration down to business submission – provided all the business details you want to publish is readily available.
We have provided the following step-by-step guide to make your submission even more easier. (Please check the supplemental images below for more details)
Step 1: You can see an orange button labeled “List Your Business – FREE” right at the menu section of the site; this is visible on any page you browse. Click on that button to begin with your business submission.
Step 2: You will be directed to the following page where the registration process begins. Just click on the ‘Register’ link (as highlighted) for your registration. (Note: In case you are already registered, just login to your account)
Step 3: After clicking ‘Register,’ you will be directed to the registration page where you need to provide the required account details. Then, just type the captcha code (in red below) and then click on ‘Create Account’ to submit.
Step 4: Once your account details have been submitted successfully – meaning you have successfully created your own account – you will see the page where the business submission begins (see image below). On this page, you will just need to select a category for your submission and click ‘Go’ to continue.
Step 5: After selecting a category, you will be brought to the business details form, where you will need to provide all your necessary business information. Please note that the more business details you provide, the better – prospective clients, as we know it, are usually persuaded when the information is detailed. When done filling-up the form, just click ‘Continue’.
Step 6: You will then be directed to a preview page for you to check your submission – e.g. for errors, typo, etc. If you think there is still something that needs to be edited, just click the ‘Go Back’ button; else, click ‘Proceed’ to continue.
Step 7: Lastly, when you are done with Step 6, you will be prompted with a message telling that the business you have submitted has been received and all you need to do now is to wait for that listing becomes live – after review by the Davao Portal Team.
Note: You will be notified via email once your listing has been posted live. You can also see your live submission by logging in to your account. Just check your dashboard – similar to what is being shown below.
And, that’s it!

If you are a Davao-based business owner or running a business in the city then you might want to consider listing your business information at Davao Portal business directory and here are the 4 compelling reasons why:
First, it’s FREE. As you might (or might not) be aware of, not all business directories on the Internet are offering free listing and there are just few business directory sites that are targeted to Davao prospects. That means, listing to Davao portal provides you an avenue for your business to reach audiences in a wider scope yet targeted to your prospects. So, you might want to take advantage of this opportunity – without spending a cent.
Speaking of ‘wider and targeted audiences,” the Davao Portal has great presence in major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing. If you perform a search on Google today for keywords like “davao businesses” or “list of companies in davao city,” which are the keywords that your target customers are most likely to use in search, you will notice that Davao Portal is on top of SERPs (search engine results pages) – first page. What does that say? That means more potential customers (leads) could be generated for your business if it was listed, most especially today that people are using the online alternatives to find businesses – and most of them use search engines like Google. Checkout the following images:
Davao Portal, launched in July 2012 (and yes, will be celebrating its first anniversary this month), is now attracting thousands of people per month (unique visitors); they are website visitors who are coming from different parts of the globe. This trend is expected to continue as more and more people are turning their heads back to the city, seeing it as a promising haven for business and investments. This trend also means that the Davao Portal Team will (and shall) continue to work to help businesses in Davao get more visibility through digital media.
Lastly, the people behind Davao Portal are all Davaoeños and are Davao-based; this means they have the heart for Davao. This also means that they can be reached anytime when you want to meet them in person for any project collaborations, request for business reviews, and other projects that matter to people as long as you are in Davao.

Yesterday, the Davao Portal Team had the opportunity to be with people who are passionate in sculptures — in the event dubbed “Superhero Sculptures by Daddy Harold Soriaga: A Father’s Day Art Exhibit,” held at Abreeza Mall, Davao City. We thought it was timely as this month, we are honoring our fathers — our all-time favorite superheroes — in various ways. Thus, the said event is worth-featuring and deserves a place here on our blog.
During the event, we got the chance to meet the man behind the masterpiece, Mr. Harold Soriaga, the artist himself. In his speech, he said that he really took time working, preparing for this event (his first exhibit) that he jokingly said he even had no time giving a massage for his wife during the course of the preparation. He also thanked everybody who came, as well as those people who helped him, with special acknowledgement to his sister, Hazel, who also took a big part for the realization of the event. And, in his welcoming gesture, he invited all of the visitors to see his creations (there were 26 items displayed) that he started creating in 2006. When asked how long does it take to finish a single sculpture, “usually, it takes 3 months for me to finish one,” he said.

If you are looking for inland resorts in Davao City, you might want to check the list below. I have listed some of the most popular inland tourist attractions (in no particular order) in the city based on people’s recommendations as well as on social media mentions.
photo credit: D’ Leonor Facebook Page
It is a 26-hectare inland resort located in Cummunal, Cabantian, Buhangin, which is about 20 to 30 minutes ride from the airport. This place offers a number of attractions that you and your friends might want to experience. Wavepool, zipline, and wall climbing are just some of its facilities you can try. But if you only want a sightseeing, you can do that as well – you just need to pay the entrance fee, which is 50 pesos for adult and 30 pesos for kids. D’ Leonor’s other rates and charges(such as for accommodations) and other come at fair price as well.
