It was our second time dining in this restaurant but, just like the first, still we were captivated! Here’s why: the place really offers a unique dining experience that keeps us coming back. And so, with the aim of sharing that ‘experience’ to Davao Portal loyal followers – and the rest of the readers – I have written this post.
Here’s our dining experience (the second time around).
A Malaysian-dressed female staff welcomed us with a warm smile, and a male waiter led us to our table with real banana leaves placed on it to be used as alternative to plates. The place had a comfortable and cozy ambience, which made me feel at home.
Banana Leaf’s menu consists of a variety of dishes from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India and more.
What we ordered:
Roti Canai with Curry Sauce, a type of Indian-influenced flatbread which can go with curry, sugar or condensed milk. We went with curry for this.
Nasi Goreng Nanas; the Indonesian stir-fried rice spiced with chili and mixed with pineapple, eggs, prawns, chicken and sweet soy sauce.
Charcoal Grilled Sliced Pork Steak Thai Style which goes with a tangy and spicy type of sauce that complements the mildly sweet grilled pork.
Deep Fried Squid Flavoured in Homemade Spicy Garlic, the crunchy squid strips which I enjoyed chewing, leaves a spicy after-taste.
There are a whole lot of other good dishes to try at Banana Leaf which can surely satisfy the hungry tummy. For starters, you can try what we had:
Roti Canai – Php 88.00
Curry Sauce – Php 30.00
Nasi Goreng Nanas – Php 168.00
Charcoal Grilled Sliced Pork Steak Thai Style – Php 268.00
Deep Fried Squid Flavoured in Homemade Spicy Garlic – Php 238.00
Fruit Shake – Php 75.00
Coke in Can – Php 59.00
